  • Select a good piece of firewood…

    A piece of oak firewood that has little checkering, knots or flaws.

  • Chop out the blank using the bandsaw…

    There is enough wood here for two plain Jane billy clubs.

  • On the lathe…

  • Rough shape…

  • Cut in the general shape of the handle…

  • Burn in the grips…

    I (carefully) use a piece of aluminum wire to burn the hand grips.

  • Fresh off the lathe…

  • Finished product…

    The ends were sanded with a 12″ circular sander. I use cotton wood polishing wheels on the slow-speed grinder to polish most of my finished wood projects.
